Welcome Prospective
School Families
Letter from the Principal
Do you
remember the Bible story of Moses and the Burning Bush where
God spoke to Moses and said, "Take off your shoes. You
are on holy ground." The ground there was holy because
it was a meeting place with God. And that's what St.
Edward School is holy ground because it is a place where our
young people meet God...even tho' they keep their shoes on.
We are
surrounded by a very dysfunctional culture - music, media,
videos, dangerous websites, some technology...There is an
assault on life, on families, on our Catholic faith.
Our school provides a different view of reality. We
are where the story of God is told. We prepare young
people to live effectively in the world and to journey back
home to God. We bring out the best in them. We
call them to HOLINESS.
Religion
is not just one subject but rather a day-long way of living
and interacting. Kindness, respect and obedience are
fostered. Older students are examples to younger ones.
Leadership skills are built. Service is encouraged.
Every student has a sense of belonging. We surround
students with the signs, symbols, and prayers of the church
with pictures of our past and present heroes, our four
pastors: Father Hogan, Father Tom Esper, Father
Wallace, and Father Joe. We do things in certain ways,
have traditions like morning prayer and weekly Mass, like
the Advent wreath, the food box for the needy and service
projects.
Last year
we proudly opened our new gymnasium and cafeteria.
This enhances the many offerings of St. Edward School such
as small class size, a safe, friendly environment, high test
scores and most importantly, Faith. "Got Jesus?
We do in every classroom."
Sincerely,
Helen
