With May finally
here, our religion lessons have been focusing on our Blessed
Mother. We are reading about Mary in our religion books and
have prayed the Rosary together. We are looking forward to
the May Crowning, where many of us will have parts in the
Mass.
In Social
Studies, it feels good to be learning about our own region,
the Midwest. We have been reading about what kinds of crops
the land is good for and how the people live, work, and
depend on each other throughout the region. The information
makes sense to us because we can reference our own
experiences.
In Language Arts we
finished our unit on “That’s Amazing,” and are starting our
unit “Problem Solvers.” As can be seen by the title, we will
be reading stories about characters who are faced with a
variety of challenges and must work to find solutions.
We will also be having
another literature circle session soon. This seems to be a
favorite of ours. For the writing aspect of our language
lessons, we are working on how to write clear directions, or
“how to” paragraphs.
In math, we are
working on long division. It didn’t take long for us to
realize that we need multiplication, subtraction, and
addition skills, as well as division, to do one long
division problem and check it. What a process!
We are enjoying the
increasingly beautiful weather and hope you are also.
